| Coming Home For R & R please read! Fiesta Bowl |
| I am a big OU Sooners fan. I am coming home for R&R 1 January, 2011. This bowl game is a dream of mine and my wife's. I want to do something for her since she has been my rock through this deployment to Afghanistan. We never had a honeymoon and not sure if we ever will because money is tight when you are a E4; She never complains though. She always puts me first. We do not have a PX at the FOB I am on, so she always keeps the boxes coming. Even when we are broke, she always finds enough to send me necessities. I can say that we have become closer though we are 7,000 miles apart. I know the Fiest Bowl is a big dream. I would be in heaven if this came true. God bless you all for what you are doing. You make everything I do worth it. Knowing that we have people who care and support us no matter where we are, well that makes me feel good to be a soldier! Thank you and God bless America!

 This is SPC Luke Roberts wife, Ambra. I am writing on behalf of my husband, myself and our children. Luke is with the 104th TC from Fort Benning GA deployed to Afghanistan . He is serving his 2nd deployment as a 50 cal gunner on security and supply missions. At this point they have logged over 174,000 miles.
When Luke took the time out to write in and make a wish he had almost served half of his tour (6months) and had an R&R date set to where he should be state side between 30 December and 1 January. He wanted to make R&R special for us. Truly he really didnt know if he would be approved. He had told me a little about this but not full details. On the 20th of December, I received a phone call for Luke. As usuall I informed the caller that Luke was not available and that he was serving our country in Afghanistan, but would be home very soon. The caller said "We kind of gathered that" he introduced himself and let me know that Luke's Wish would now become reality. I started crying and I hit my knees. He said that he had 2 tickets to the Fiesta Bowl and 3 for our kids. We have never had a family trip. We could only dream of something so wonderful as this!
My husband has been running missions nonstop for about seven weeks trying to make sure that supply makes it to the regions they soon will not be able to reach due to weather. They have now had injuries from several IED's. Last week they needed my husband to run mission during Christmas. Command thought they would have him back in time to fly. At this point we can not guarantee Luke's arrival on time. So he will not get his wish. This broke my heart today. I called VTF and let them know that these tickets need to be used. I took pictures of one of our sons with the tickets and our daddy doll before we overnighted these tickets back. I hope to see five soldiers or a family in the place of us there. This game means so much to us! WE ARE A SOONER FAMILY!
I want to thank you for being so very kind to us. I pray that you fill the seats with someone from your list! God bless you for caring about our family when most could care less. I pray that when my husband does finally make it home maybe we can find something local or in the GA/FL area. No matter what, you restored my faith in America and how others treat our veterans. I have been humbled and my children have learned lessons here. Thank you and please continue to do what you do! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!
